Paul’s family visits him

Apr 25th, 2009 by Perry

Here is some reassuring photographic evidence for those of you who may have been concerned that Paul has not been able to see Maxe since his stroke. The picture is dated February 24, 2009. It was sent to Paul at his Gmail address by Wolfi Petri, who is apparently a member of the family that has taken responsibility for caring for Paul’s beloved companion, Maxe, while our friend Paul is working through his rehabilitation.

Family

I spoke with Paul as recently as this past Thursday and he seemed in good spirits.

The connection between Paul’s friends in Europe and those of us in the U. S. seems to be growing by the day. I have created an email distribution list for a number of people who want to hear any news that becomes available about Paul, and I am exploring the possibility of setting up a discussion list so that we may all share news, ideas, wishes and hopes that may help Paul recover and get back to communicating directly with us all as soon as possible. As you all know, Paul was a prolific communicator who extended his circle of friends worldwide. So as soon as this discussion list materalizes, I’ll tell you how to sign up (if you choose) so that you can join his circle of support. Please stay tuned for the latest news on that when it becomes available.

    Hi, Parry,
My name is Andrey. I am musician, we knows each others with Paul since 1994, when i still lived in Poland.
I didn’t know about Paul’s stroke until today. How sad…Please use the next chance to let him know, that his old russian-polish friend Andrey send him his warmest regards, and best wishes to recover as soon as it will be possible. Tell him, that i’ll be more than happy to prepare for him a collection of his beloved classical music pieces in his beloved interpretations. By the way- does he has a Discman, which can read mp3 files?

Please send him all my love, and let me know if (and when) i can directly write to him.

    Andrey , (Bern Switzerland)

This letter should go to Paul as well as to Perry.
During the last weeks I was unable do keep track of Paul’s recovery but I am very glad to get all the precious informations from whoever writes the “updates”.
I couldn’t visit Paul lately because of my own disabilities and travels to Ahlen, Bremen and Cologne.
One day I received a telephone call from the nursing home which addressed me as “der gesetzliche Vertreter” which I am by no means
at all. In no way was I assigned as such neither in writing nor else.
So I had to reject my assistance, and secondly I received a call in which I was asked to supply new underwear for Paul. This I also had to turn down since I have no keys to his apartment or have I entered it before.
Anyway, I feel very guilty that I could not be of any help at all.
But if any future opportunities will occur, I gladly will help in many other ways according to my own condition. My telephone-No. is
030-7865136. Please contact me when needed.
I also will appreciate any news about Paul’s situation such as his new address and whether his treatment is successful. I really wish to be included in the list which you prepare.
Now I am sending all my good wishes and thanks, Adi Jaenisch

I have been a friend of Paul since we first met in elementary school — about 1929-1930. We have exchanged rare visits over the years (I lived in El Paso, Texas and have since moved to a village in New Mexico), hence have been rather much out of his orbit. Topping that, I lost his web site through a computer malfunction.

I do want to be on his list for news of his health, and I want him to know that Betty and I send love and saludas. Paul, keep your spirits up!
